The Welsh Language Tribunal is an independent statutory body.. The Tribunal President and the Tribunal Members were appointed using a process designed to ensure that they are independent and make decisions objectively according to the law. There is a right to appeal from the Tribunal to the High Court with regards to a point of law.
The Tribunal was established in April 2015 under Section 120 of the Welsh Language (Wales) Measure 2011. The Welsh Government must provide the Tribunal with the resources it requires to undertake its work. Statistical and financial information about the Tribunal's work is provided in its Annual Report.
